Inviting Invitations
You can see creativity all around Celeste Turner. It’s in everything she does, from her decorative displays to designing invitations. Turner is the stationery manager for Page and Palette. It’s an eclectic boutique, in quintessential downtown Fairhope, Alabama, where you can order a mocha latte (my favorite) with your William Author wedding invitations, and pick up the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living. I met with Turner on a dangerously rainy Saturday, but despite the sour mood outside, it was warm and welcoming inside Page and Palette, where Turner says, “customer service goes far beyond what’s expected, and our prices are excellent”. She is referring to the high quality invitations, and stationery products offered at Page and Palette. If you are shopping for wedding invitations Turner advises you “come prepared, have your guest list firmed up, allow for extra guests, and order extra envelopes for your calligrapher.” At Page and Palette quality, service, and selection are everything. That is why you will find a wide variety of invitations to choose from for every occasion, no matter how formal or informal. Page and Palette is the exclusive Eastern Shore dealer of the new William Author line. It is a line also carried by the famed Tiffany & Co. in New York. If your wedding is taking a more formal theme, the standard is white, rich ivory, or off white 100 percent cotton invitations. The printing should be engraved with black, gray, or brown ink. Engraving is a technique that involves using a steel or copperplate to “cut” letters into the paper. These letters look and feel raised from the surface of the paper, both front and back. This style is considered top of the line, and you guessed it; it is the most expensive. However, Turner says there is an alternative that can save you money and closely resembles engraving. It is called Thermography. It is a heat process that fuses ink and powder, the letters are raised on the front, but cannot be felt on the back. If contemporary is more your style, then don’t worry, Page and Palette has a creative design sure to fit your taste. Remember, when choosing your invitations it will set the tone for your wedding. Its style let guests know whether the wedding will be formal or informal or whether your wording indicates a theme, for example: sending a message in a bottle, could indicate a wedding on the beach. Most brides agree the hardest part of ordering invitations is finding the correct wording, especially when it comes to split and blended families. For Turner these tough situations are nothing new. Her years of experience have given her the knowledge to handle your invitation etiquette questions. Celeste Turner’s creative, knowledgeable background, and fun sprit will aid you in finding the perfect invitations to help you spread the word of your most special day.
